Todd County Schools' Hall of Fame Inductees Recognized

It is with great honor that the Todd County High Schools' Hall of Fame Committee presented their 2018 Inductees at the TCCHS Rebels Basketball Game on Friday night.
 
These 4 people have made significant achievements in their chosen fields or professional services, and noteworthy contributions to society as positive role models in their community. A wall has been set aside at TCCHS to display these inductees' accomplishments.
 
The four inductees for the 2018 Todd County Schools' Hall of Fame are:
  • Robert "Bob" Nelson Bush
  • William "Bill" Longhurst Jr.
  • Stanley Gail Russell
  • Angela Payne Starnes
Robert "Bob" Nelson Bush was represented by his son, Robert Bush and daughter, Anne Bush Wolfe. Prior to his death, Mr. Bush touched many lives in his distinguished educational career in Todd County Schools. He was a teacher, Principal of Elkton High School, First Principal of Todd County Central High School, and eventually Superintendent of Todd County Schools
 
William "Bill" Longhurst Jr. was represented by his wife, Elaine Longhurst and sons; Russ and Glen. Prior to his death, Mr. Longhurst was an iconic piece of Guthrie Main Street. His family business, Longhurst General Store, lead him in being a dedicated community leader in Todd County.
 
Stanley Gail Russell was represented by his wife, Bennie Russell, and daughters; Angela McKee and Gail Young. Prior to his death, Mr. Russell was an active civic, community, and business leader in the area of civil rights. He was a member of the first graduating class of Todd County Central High School in 1964.
 
Angela Payne Starnes won 7 state titles for the Lady Rebels, and set the 1A state record in the 100-meter dash in 1980, a mark which still stands. She then set the Murray State University women's indoor record in the 55-meter dash in 1983. She has since retired after 27 years of teaching in Kentucky.
 
These outstanding citizens will be honored at a banquet on Saturday, February 9th. Congratulations to each individual and family on this honor.
