Todd Central Lady Rebels Advance to Girls’ 4th Region All ‘A’ Final With Overtime Win

Todd County Central’s girls will play for the 4th Region All ‘A’ Classic championship after upsetting Russellville in overtime Wednesday night during semifinal action in Elkton.

The Lady Rebels (3-11), who lost to Russellville 59-27 on Dec. 7, dispatched the Lady Panthers 52-50 in the rematch in the Class A tournament.

Russellville (14-5) looked like it was on its way to another big win when it jumped out to a 16-5 advantage after 8 minutes. The Lady Panthers led 28-18 at halftime.

But Todd cut the gap to 36-31 through three quarters, then tied thing at 46-46 at the end of regulation.

The Lady Rebels outscored Russellville 6-4 in the extra session to pull out the victory.

Paige Rager had 19 points to help Todd advance to the regional final. Amy Brumfield scored 14 points and Jasmine Mimms added 10 for the Lady Rebels.

Russellville got 18 points from Chloe Whitescarver and 12 from DeShayla LaBlanc.

Russellville advanced to the semifinals by beating Cumberland County 58-41 in first round action on Monday.

Todd, which drew a bye into the semifinals, will host Metcalfe County for the 4th Region All ‘A’ title on Friday at 6 p.m. Metcalfe defeated Monroe County 72-57 in Wednesday’s other semifinal contest.
