Matt Fraliex, former Caldwell County basketball standout, has been named the new Lady Rebels Head Basketball Coach at Todd County Central High School. Fraelix is replacing Lee Quarles, who resigned when he assumed Principal of Todd County Central High School.
Fraliex was a five-year starter for the Caldwell County Tigers from 2002-2007. He was a two time All-State selection and scored 2,941 career points which is still the most by any player in Caldwell basketball history. Fraliex capped off his Tiger career by winning the 2007 7th District Championship and leading his team to a 23-4 record. He was a finalist for Kentucky’s Mr. Basketball and was chosen to represent Kentucky in the Kentucky vs. Indiana All-Star game.
Fraliex played Division 1 basketball at Murray State University for two seasons, before transferring to Mid-Continent University, a former Christian NAIA school located in Mayfield, Kentucky. After his playing career ended, Fraliex was an assistant coach for one season at Caldwell County. He later took over the Russellville Middle School Boys program in 2019-2020, before coming to be a teacher at South Todd Elementary and an assistant coach for the Lady Rebels last year.
Fraliex and his wife, Tamara, are the parents of two children: Aiden, 7, who is a 2nd grader at South Todd and Rylee Grace, 5, who is a preschooler at South Todd Elementary. Fraliex extended thanks to, “Coach Quarles, Coach Smith and the members of the SBDM council who have put their faith and trust in me to be the next coach. I want to thank my family for their support. I look forward to pouring my heart and soul into each player that is a part of our program. Helping them improve as people first, students second, and athletes third. I can’t wait to get to work with our current Lady Rebels and future Lady Rebels.”
